One of the most important decisions parents need to make when having a Will prepared for them is the choice of a guardian for their minor child or children should they both pass before the children attain the age of majority (18 in most states). The choice of guardian can be especially difficult for the parents of a child or children with special needs. Unfortunately, many people do not put nearly enough thought into their selection, choosing a close relative or friend regardless of that person's background.
